What is eSmart?

Rangeview Primary School is currently working towards becoming an eSmart accredited school. An eSmart school is a school where the smart, safe and responsible use of information and communications technology is a cultural norm. Students, teachers and the wider school community are equipped to embrace the best these technologies can offer, while being savvy about the pitfalls. Students are regularly involved in developing and delivering information on the smart, safe and responsible use of technologies to a variety of audiences and are taught a suite of social and emotional skills. In eSmart schools, relationships are strong and supportive and learning outcomes are enhanced. Bullying and cyberbullying are therefore less likely to thrive. This information and much more can be accessed at:https://www.esmartschools.org.au

Privacy Playground - Cyberpigs

The link to this game is listed under websites.

Suggestions for playing the game are given by Mediasmarts.

-Enlist students of a higher grade to sit with two or three children as they play the game and to help their understanding. Children who need a lot of help on their first attempt should be given the opportunity to play again.

-Team up capable readers with less capable readers.

-Have pairs of children play the game and record their scores on a chart. Give children the chance to play again and do better!

Here is a link to the mediasmart page where you can click on a pdf of Teacher Resources for lots of information about relating student discussions to the Cyberpigs video.
